A Land for which the LORD your God cares….
As we travelled the whole of the Holy land, from the north to the south, the landscape that greeted our eyes were one of rolling hills with rubbles and shrubs! Since the Lord promised Abraham a land flowing with milk and honey, I kind of expected to see lush green countryside filled with flowers! Why would the Lord of all the earth, give such a piece of land to His elect! Don’t we all want to give good gifts to our children?
That question was bothering me until the Lord Himself showed me His reasoning. The Lord says in Deut 11:10-12,”For the land which you go to possess is not like the land of Egypt from which you have come, where you sowed your seed and watered it by foot, as a vegetable garden; but the land which you cross over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water from the rain of heaven, a land for which the LORD your God cares; the eyes of the LORD your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year to the very end of the year”.
The land of Egypt was fed by the river Nile. But the land of the promise was fed with “water from the rain of heaven.” The Lord blessed the land of the promise with the former rains and the later rains in a timely manner so that they had a bountiful harvest! All they had to do was depend on God to fulfil His promises!
When we look around, we may not see a rosy picture. Our life has its own challenges. But the Lord has promised that it will be a land for which the Lord cares. The eyes of the Lord will be always upon it. Not just for a time, but from the beginning of the year to the very end of the year! What more can we ever want!
My friend, whatever may be our life situation today, take heart. The Lord cares. His eyes are always upon us from the beginning to the end of the year. He will bless the works of our hands bountifully in this New Year irrespective of what we see or not see today! The Lord only wants us to completely depend on Him!
Let us trust Him and obey Him so that we can truly enjoy His blessing!
