Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
No one climbs Everest alone. Every activity requires support. Unless everyone understands the vision and their role in achieving it, it will not be easy to move forward. The best teams do not have people with similar skills. They typically bring together individuals with diverse talents and qualifications. The most essential attributes in working together are patience, kindness, empathy and humility!
Paul had many companions. Barnabas encouraged Paul. Silas, Timothy and Luke travelled with him. Aquilla and Priscilla stayed with him. Phoebe, Epaphroditus, and Epaphras worked alongside Paul as co-workers or were messengers . Many shared his burdens, provided for him, and helped him during his time in prison. One wrote down his words and another carried the letters. Together, they accomplished great things for God.
Living the Christian life, we need people to encourage and support us as well as hold us accountable. Wrong companions would sidetrack us.
The Bible says, “ Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor: One can help the other up if either of them falls. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up ” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). The Bible instructs us to spur one another on to love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24-25). A small group of believers who commit to supporting one another in living a life that honours God is essential. Sometimes it could come from within a family, but most often it is a group of like-minded friends.
My friend, walking together as believers is essential. There is strength in unity. Be mindful of others’ needs so that you can be the support they need.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help us stay in Christian fellowship so that we can accomplish great things for You. Amen.
