Adam / Madam, where art thou?
In the cool of the day, the LORD God walked with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. But one day, Adam and Eve hid themselves from Him when He came. We all know the story. They hid themselves because they had disobeyed God. Their guilt and sin kept them from the Presence of God. And God Himself came looking for Man, the fallen human race! From the Garden of Eden, the story continues, even today. And God found Enoch, who walked with God. God saw Noah as a just man, perfect in his generation, who walked with God. God is looking for men and women who would walk with Him even in our generation. God is looking for men and women who seek God. "The Lord still looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God" (Ps 14:2). God is still looking for men and women who will not be just 'professing' Christians but 'practicing' Christians!
Where are we today? Some of us are still entangled in 'sin.' Adam and Eve could not face God because of their sin. While we do not murder, we engage in 'character assassination.' While we do not tell big lies, we do not think much about applying for medical leave while healthy. While we consider ourselves 'honest,' we do not think much about telling half-truths. While we do not steal things, we do not think much of doing personal work during office time. While we project a very pious outward appearance for people to see, we do not read the Bible and pray daily. We lack honesty, humility, integrity, forgiveness, and compassion in our personal lives. Some of us are still bound in 'Ignorance.' Some people sleep with their Bibles under their pillows to ward off evil spirits! A Bible that is not read and obeyed is useless! God is still looking for Men and Women who would make a difference.
My friend, our responsibility is great. We always say one person cannot change the world. But we find the God of the Bible, willing to forgive a city based on one honest person (Jer 5:1). God is ready to heal the whole land if one people group can turn from their wicked ways and seek His face (2 Chron. 7:14). Can we be that one person because of whom this whole community and country can be saved? God is looking for you and me. Are we ready?
