For unto us …
Bible Reading: Isaiah 9:6-7
The world is divided, divided more now than ever before. We are divided based on race, nationality, and skin colour. We are divided based on what we believe, the language we speak, and the community we belong to.
But Jesus is inclusive. There is no division in Him, and there is no partiality.
The Bible says, “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given …” The angels proclaimed the birth of Jesus to all people (Luke 2:10 NIV). ‘Us’ and ‘all’ are all words that include all of us. Jesus came into this world for us all, for each one of us and for every one of us!
This is the good news.
People of other faiths may not realize that Jesus came for them. The atheists and the agnostics may not realize that Jesus came for them. But Jesus came for all. Jesus came to forgive everyone’s sin so that all would be made worthy of heaven. Jesus is for us. Jesus is not a religion. He is a friend and a companion who came just for you and me. Accepting and rejecting Jesus is our choice.
Jesus is our Saviour, Emmanuel, God with us.
That is such an encouraging thought. Sometimes we feel neglected and left behind. We think no one cares for us. Seniors feel so lonely after the children leave home that they feel dejected. The good news is Jesus came for you and me. The Bible says He is ‘Emmanuel’, God with us. We need never feel lonely or rejected, for Jesus has promised to be with us, all the time. He is willing to guide us and go before us.
My friend, are you feeling sad because you have lost a loved one? Are you feeling lonely because you are alone? Jesus said He will never leave you nor forsake you. Jesus is with you as Emmanuel God. You can invite Jesus into your heart today so that you will always have a friend.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, come into my heart today and be my friend. Amen.
