From whence comes my help?

Covid had paralyzed the travel industry for almost two years and once the borders were opened for International travel, we too decided to travel to the US to be with our children.  After coming to the US, all of us got affected by Covid and as we slowly recovered, I had to be rushed to the hospital with chest pain for another stent!  Through every ordeal, the Lord sustained us through His Word.  Whether we are in India or America, whether we are at home or the hospital, there is only one who is always by our side.  The Bible says the Lord will not allow my foot to be moved for the one who keeps me will not slumber or sleep (Psalm 121).  The LORD is my keeper and my help comes from the Lord who created the heavens and the earth!  What more can anyone ask for in this life!  Even through unexpected events, my God is all I need.

My friend forwarded a beautiful poem, 'Unfolding the Rose' by Jalaluddin Rumi, a Sufi poet from the 13th Century and it touched my heart.  It is about how God unfolds a tiny rosebud, beautifully, one petal at a time.  We cannot unfold the petals with our clumsy hands.  The Poet goes on to say that mortals like us do not know the secret of unfolding flowers and If we cannot unfold a simple rosebud, how can we think we have the wisdom to unfold this life of ours?  He concludes the poem saying,

So I'll trust in Him for His leading each moment of every day.

I will look to Him for His guidance each step of the pilgrim way.

The pathway that lies before me, only my Heavenly Father knows.

I'll trust Him to unfold the moments, just as He unfolds the rose. 

Only the Lord knows the pathway that lies before us. We are called to trust Him to unfold the moments one by one!! The Bible says, "Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but abides forever" (Psalm 125:1).  

My friend, in this New Year, let us put our trust in the LORD for He shall preserve our going out and our coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore (Psalm 121: 7,8) for our help for every situation comes only from the Lord who created the heavens and the earth.
