God of all my tomorrows!
The last book we studied in our Bible Study Fellowship class was Genesis. As we were discussing the story of Noah and the Ark, my cousin, who was in my class, shared this beautiful insight. The Lord gave detailed instructions to Noah on how he should build the Ark. God gave him the plan, the material specifications, and the size for the Ark. God gave clear instructions on how Noah was to gather the animals into Ark. When it was time for Noah, his wife, his three sons, and their wives to get on to the Ark, the LORD said to Noah, "Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation" (Gen 7:1). The Lord was inside the Ark before Noah and his family could get in! What a beautiful thought!
The LORD saw that the wickedness of humanity and said that He would destroy everything from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping things and birds of the air, for the Lord was sorry that He had made them, but Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD (Genesis 6 and 7). The people had not experienced rain until then, and Noah built the Ark on dry land amidst much ridicule. Everything was new for Noah, but he believed in God. Noah had no idea what to expect. Noah and his family had to leave everything they had known so far behind and had to enter the Ark with packed bags, not knowing what tomorrow would bring. The one thing that comforted Noah was the Presence of the Lord inside the Ark, welcoming them. Covid 19 has made our days stressful. We do not know what tomorrow may bring. But our confidence is in our Lord and Saviour who is holding our tomorrow!
My friend, "He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you—the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night" (Psalm 121:3-6). He is the Lord of all our tomorrows. As long as He is there to welcome us into the new day, we have nothing to fear, regardless of what it may hold!
