God of Numbers!
Until my sixth grade, I was not considered up to the mark in mathematics. I used to be so scared of math that I decided that I will run away from math as soon as that option became applicable. But all that changed when P. K. Master (P. Krishnamachari), as he was popularly known in the school circle in Neyveli, became my tuition teacher. He made me understand the basic concept of math, and from that day onwards, I have not looked back. I opted for composite mathematics as the elective subject in the eleventh grade, took mathematics in the pre-university course, and went on to complete my Engineering from College of Engineering, Guindy. I thank God for His timely intervention that changed the course of my life!
Our God is a God of numbers! God created the heavens and the earth in six days and rested on the seventh day. God gave the ten commandments for us to obey. The twelve sons of Jacob became seventy when they went to Egypt during the time of the great famine, and they became six hundred thousand men at the time of the exodus out of Egypt! The forty years in the wilderness speaks volumes about God! The Bible not only gives the exact dimensions for the Tabernacle, but it also records the exact number of people in every tribe that camped around the Tabernacle. Numbers have a way of getting our attention in any narrative!
The book of Numbers shows the faithfulness of God in the lives of a faithless people! It shows the love of God, the mercy of God, and the grace of God. It shows the provision and protection of God even when the Israelites grumbled! The book of Numbers reminds us of our own journey. It reminds us of His faithfulness in bringing us back to His fold every time we lost our way! It reminds us of the giants we have faced and the protection we have enjoyed. It reminds us of the valleys we have walked through and the mountains we have scaled where the Lord has been our ever-present help!
My friend, we have a God who does not change. The Bible says He is the same yesterday, today, and forever! Whatever may be the challenge we face today, take heart for God is going before us and preparing the way for us.
