God's Plan
I was listening to a Pastor's sermon a few weeks back, and he made a passing remark about the situation surrounding the birth of Moses, and it made a lasting impression in my mind. Moses was born in troubled times. When a new king who did not know Joseph arose over Egypt, he realized the children of Israel were more numerous than the Egyptians, so he wanted to end them. Therefore he set taskmasters over them to afflict them and asked the midwives to kill all male children at the delivery time. When Jochebed, Moses's mother, found herself pregnant, she must have been distraught. I am sure his father, Amram, and his mother must have prayed fervently for the child to be a girl! Did God answer their prayer? No. They could have been very disappointed that God did not answer their most fervent prayers. But they did not know God's plan for their son or the path he had to travel to fulfill God's plan for his life!
Jesus said, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened" (Matthew 7:7). This is true only when what we ask is according to God's plan for our lives. God had a big plan for Moses, and his parents could never have imagined what God had planned for their son. The Bible says in Jeremiah 29:11 that God knows the plans He has for each of us, plans to prosper us, but He does not give us a blueprint of that plan. We have to trust God and walk in faith every step of the way! In His time, God has promised to do the best for us. Unless we trust Him fully, we cannot enjoy His blessings! Amram and Jochebed probably did not see Moses leading the people of Israel, but God, in His time, made Moses the deliverer!
My friend, are you praying for something for a long time? Prayer is neither preparing God nor making God willing to work wonders. The period of waiting always prepares us to receive and retain the blessing. So do not panic or get discouraged. We cannot understand God's ways. Remember, God's plans are the best, and in His time, the answer will come!
