In its Time!
The Lord gave me a promise in December of 2005 regarding the marriage of our eldest son Sushil. The Lord said, “…I am the LORD; in its time I will do this swiftly.” (Isaiah 60:22b). I took God at His Word and thought of one activity connected with the wedding that will take time and decided to start on the guest list. According to His Word, God made it come to pass ‘swiftly.’ The Proposal came in June or July of 2006, and they were engaged on October 5th and married on January 5th the following year (2007). It was the right time for Sushil, and according to His Word, God made everything beautiful in its time (Eccl 3:11).
For a prayer to be answered, three things are essential, the divine will, His time, and its time! When it was time for the ‘Feast of Tabernacles’, Jesus was still in Galilee. The brothers of Jesus told Him to go into Judea so that people would see His miracles (John 7:1-6). But Jesus replied, saying, “My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready” (John 7:6). In the wedding at Cana, when Mary approached Jesus and told Him about the shortage of wine, Jesus said, ” … My hour has not yet come (John 2:4).” In the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus said the hour has come for the Son of Man to be betrayed into the hands of sinners (Mark 14:41). When Lazarus was sick (John 11:6), Jesus stayed wherever He was for two more days, and when He finally arrived, it was four days after Lazarus had died. God is omniscient; that is, He knows the end from the beginning. Jesus knew that raising a dead man will reveal God’s glory and build the people’s faith. Lazarus was ready to receive the miracle even when he fell sick. But four days after his death was God’s time! Mothers never allow a small child to handle a sharp knife. But when the child is old enough, she will give the same child the knife and expect the child to act responsibly!
My friend, we may not have received answers to some of our prayers for a long time. Do not lose hope! When the answers finally come, they will bring much more glory to the Lord! Sometimes, we are not ready to receive the miracle. So God waits patiently and works on us so that we can receive the blessing! Trust God for His plans for us are the best for us always!
