Open the eyes of my heart, Lord!
A man once had a dream. In that dream, he saw people carrying a Cross and walking. Everyone seemed to be struggling under its weight, but they kept on walking. A Cross was given to this man was also. He thought that it was too heavy and looked around to see if he can exchange it, but since no one noticed him, he was left carrying his Cross! As he struggled along, he spotted a chisel and a hammer. He was overjoyed and decided to cut his Cross a little so that he can carry it easily. He then picked up his Cross and joined the group. Very soon, they all came to a gorge with a river winding below. As he watched, everyone laid their Crosses across, walked over to the other side, picked them up, and continued their journey. This man had no way of crossing over to the other side because his Cross was now too short! This story spoke to my heart!
God knows our path ahead, and He continually prepares us so that we can face those challenges. The Lord knows the end from the beginning. He painstakingly works on us so that we can fulfill the purpose for which He created us! Sometimes we want to make sense of all that is happening to us. Actually, we do not have to understand them at all. All we are called to do is to trust the Lord, who holds our future. I can confidently say that the tears and trials I have gone through in my life have made me who I am today, and I am thankful to God for all of it. I can join with the Psalmist and say, that the Lord has tested me. The Lord has refined me as silver is refined. The Lord laid affliction on my back. The Lord caused men to ride over my head. I have gone through fire and through water but the Lord has brought me out to rich fulfilment (Ps. 66:10-12).
My friend, you may not understand the workings of God. But remember, God is preparing you for a glorious future. Remember that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Remember God is in control irrespective of what you may see around you. Let our prayer today be, 'Lord open the eyes of my heart so that I will trust You fully'!
