Spending time with God!
Bible Reading: Psalm 145:1-21
Our granddaughters call us on Facetime, and we spend time with them. We used to tell stories and pray with them when they were young. We also watch our one-and-a-half-year-old granddaughter as she has her dinner and breakfast almost every day. When we went to the US this year, we thought our little granddaughter might not come to us. But as soon as she saw my husband, she jumped into his hands! Even though they are in the USA, spending time with them like this keeps us connected. Time is the essence of nurturing any relationship, whether it is between husband and wife, parents and children, or even friends. We cannot get to know someone without spending time with that person. It is the same with God! If we want to know God, know His heart, and please God, we must spend time with Him! What is important to us will always find a place in our lives; if God is important, we will make time for God. There is no other way to know God!
The Bible says, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13). God created us, loves us, and wants to be our friend, but there is a problem. Our sin separates us from Him. The Good News is that God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins so we could have a personal relationship with Him. The Bible says in 1 Peter 3:18, “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God…”. Praying, reading and studying your Bible, listening to biblical music, and writing your thoughts and prayers down are ways to spend time with God. Memorize Scripture. Repeating God’s promises to yourself throughout the day reminds you that he is not far from any of us (Acts 17:27). To hear from God, ask Him to speak to your heart. Mary, who sat at the feet of Jesus, chose that good part, which will not be taken away from her, and the Lord Jesus commended her (Luke 10: 39-42).
My friend, life can get busy, and spending time with God can seem difficult or impossible. We can spend time with God anywhere, including praying in front of our bathroom mirror or as we go about the chores. The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth (Psalm 145:18). May we earnestly desire God and seek to please Him always!
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to sit at Your feet and learn from You. Amen.
