The Desert Shall Blossom like the Rose!
Reading through Isaiah chapter 35 again and again, I came to the following conclusion:
Wilderness IS necessary. But the desert WILL blossom. We have to have HOPE.
I can look back on my own life and remember the years of bondage and the wilderness years with a thankful heart. I can clearly see God’s hand carrying me, teaching me, protecting me and providing for me all those years. If it had not been for the Lord, I would not have survived to see this day. All those years have made me depend only on Him. My love for the Lord increased only during my wilderness years! Looking back, I am amazed at the way He has brought me. I am sure it is the same with many of us.
Throughout the Bible, the evening of judgment precedes the morning of blessing. Man must be broken before the Kingdom of God can be established in their hearts. After the evening of brokenness comes the morning of deliverance. The God who promised restoration to Israel has promised restoration to us also. The God of Israel is our God too.
The first step to recovery of physical well-being is the recovery of our spirit. The prophet calls people to begin that recovery and begins to lay the foundation for them to hope. A person with no hope can be expected to have weak hands and feeble knees, but when hope is restored, he/she will find reservoirs of untapped strength—both spiritual and physical.
The last time when we were visiting our son’s family, our grandchildren were singing this beautiful song, “ ‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus” again and again. And the chorus touched my heart! The chorus goes like this:
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er;
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
Oh, for grace to trust Him more!
My friend, never lose hope looking at the current situation. Our very life proves to us God’s faithfulness, over and over again. Today let us pray for ‘grace to TRUST Him more’ for the desert WILL blossom like the rose, just as He has promised!
