The Narrow Way

Bible Reading: Luke 13: 22-30

The prosperity gospel speakers say that health, wealth and prosperity are the prerogative of every believer.  If people focus only on life on Earth, they will not be motivated to choose the narrow way at all!

The broadway and the narrow way represent two patterns of life.  Those are the only two options in life.  There is one way of life for a believer, and all other ways are ways of death.  On judgment day, we cannot claim to have attended church, heard many messages, or even read the Bible.  Unless we repent of our sins and return to the Lord, and live in obedience to His Word, we will only hear the Lord say, "…. I tell you I do not know you, where you are from.  Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity".   

Jesus describes the nature of His Kingdom and the character of the people who can be part of His Kingdom. The reason for teaching these truths about the kingdom is that God wants all of us to enter the kingdom.  He wants us to embrace the lifestyle of the kingdom, thus choosing the narrow way.  This kingdom is not a city or a place.  Walls do not surround it.  This kingdom is our recognition of His lordship in our lives.  This kingdom must begin now; we have to choose to live God's way consciously.  

It may start small, but it must grow in our lives like the mustard seed and the leaven.  It is a way of life, choosing to live by the values of the Bible, and it is a challenging way. But remember, it is called the narrow way for a reason!  Jesus said, "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.  Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it" (Matthew 7:13-14).

My friend, are you still hesitating to leave the life of disobedience?  Are you struggling to read the Bible every day?  Or are you still struggling with ungodly friends?  Today is not just any day; it is the day to choose and choose wisely.  Choose the narrow way, which is the way of life.  Repent and be blessed.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to choose the narrow way always and enter eternal rest.  Amen.
