What if …?
Bible Reading: Isaiah 46:1-13
Management gurus use 'What If…' questions to explore hypothetical scenarios, find meaning, and arrive at workable solutions to complex issues. The Bible also has some 'what if' questions! What if Eve had not eaten the forbidden fruit? What if Abraham had not fathered a child with Hagar? We will never know the answers!
In life, there are many unanswered 'What if…' questions, and if we start thinking about them, we cannot get anywhere!
What if my father had not gone to Neyveli? What if I had continued with my BSc in Math at Holy Cross College instead of joining Engineering at Guindy? What if I had married someone else, or what if I had not left HTL to start a company? What if I had died in my fifty-second year of a heart attack? After all, my father died of a heart attack. Instead, God has extended my life with a stent. I can never find answers to any of these questions.
While I would never know the answers to any of these questions, God in His wisdom knew how each of those options would have ended, for God knows the end from the beginning. He has guided me in amazing ways, beyond even my wildest imagination, to accomplish His purpose in my life! I am thankful to God for the path He has led me thus far, and I have no regrets. And I am grateful for the gift of life.
God knows what is best for us!
You may be struggling today as a result of past choices that were not the right ones. Do not struggle with or dwell on it, and avoid brooding over it. Surrender it at the feet of the Lord and cover it with His blood. Only God can work something good even out of our wrong choices. The Bible says that all things work together for good to those who love God (Romans 8:28). If God is prompting you to trust Him with the decisions you are facing, trust Him. "Trust in the L ORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding… " (Proverbs 3:5-6). God's ways are the best!
My friend, let our prayer today be, "Show me Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, … " (Psalm 25:4,5). “ Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth …" (Psalm 86:11).
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me, Lord, never to dwell on past regrets but trust You to lead me forward with You. Amen.
