What Shall I Give Him….

Selecting gifts is a difficult job. We are planning to go to our children for Christmas this year and gift selection for each one is the most nerve-racking and mind-boggling activity! For the grandchildren, we need to give something on arrival and something has to be kept hidden to be put under the Christmas tree. We cannot buy random items. We have to select what each person likes. We have to talk to them and quietly figure out what is on their mind. Selecting gifts for friends and family always brings to our mind what they have given us earlier. We try to match or exceed those gifts. Gift selection is a time- consuming process!

As all these thoughts were swirling around in my mind, my thoughts drifted off to the question of what we should give Jesus this Christmas and what He would love to have from us! After all, we celebrating the birth of Jesus!

What has Jesus given us? It is a million-dollar question! Jesus died in our place and for our sins. He has given us His righteousness and has made us ‘saints’ in the eyes of the Father! He has not only provided life eternal for us but also has given us many promises to strengthen and keep us as long as we live on planet Earth! There is nothing more we need in this life or the next because of what Jesus has given!

What would Jesus love to have from us? This is truly another million-dollar question! I believe, Jesus would love our worship. Jesus would love our fellowship. Jesus would love it when we obey His Word. Jesus would love it when we take a stand for Him. Jesus would love it when we forgive and love others. And Jesus would love it when we share the little we have and help others!

My friend, let us for a moment look back at the year that has gone by and see where we have been wanting. Reflection is good because it will help us to see our true condition. When we truly confess our helpless state, He is faithful to empower us so that we can live a life of victory, bringing glory to Jesus.

May God help each one of us to give Jesus what He would love to have from us!
