Walking, Leaping and Praising God!
Victor Manoharan uncle of Youth for Christ Ministries was a frequent speaker at the CSI Redeemers Church in the seventies! One day he shared testimony from his life. While he was on his way to a speaking assignment in an auto rickshaw, due to the rash driving of the auto driver, it seems the auto rickshaw went in for a somersault! After one complete turn, by the immense grace of God, it had landed right side up, and uncle got out unhurt! Immediately, he had burst forth thanking God for His protection. It was at that moment that he had heard the voice of God in his heart saying, "Son, how many times you have had uneventful journeys but you never thanked me for them." How very true! We thank God profusely when we have great escapes but all our safe travels, we take them for granted!
In my quiet time Bible reading, I was reading about the man who was born lame in the book of Acts chapter 3. This man was carried and laid daily at the gate of the temple which was called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple. When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked them for alms. The Bible says in Acts 3:6, "Then Peter said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk."When Peter took him by the right hand and lifted him, immediately his feet, and ankle bones received strength, and he entered the temple with them, "walking, leaping, and praising God" (Acts 3:8). Somehow, I felt his energy very contagious and immediately I too wanted to walk, leap and praise God!
As I look back on the year that has gone by, I am amazed at God and the way He had guided us and directed our paths, holding us lest we fall. There have been times of falling as well, but God has lifted us every single time. We have walked through the valley of the shadow of death, but His staff and His rod have been our support. When I think of all the precious lessons I have learned as I walked through trials, tears and times of testing, I cannot but thank God for every one of them! Such must be the experience of many of us!
My friend, let us, therefore enter the New Year with a thankful heart, remembering God's goodness, walking, leaping and praising God for He has promised to go before us!
